ABOUT CELEBRATION FOR ORCHESTRA by Jeffery Briggs  - Celebration for Orchestra salutes those private moments of joy that are real, but by their very definition, are almost impossible to share with others.  They come from deep inside, lasting only a moment, and then they travel on, making you wonder if it is ‘better to have loved than lost’. Like MC Escher’s Sky and Water, where shadow and light mix to transform fish in water into birds in the sky, all of us have experienced moments when obscure images or ideas become clear. These are joyful, deeply personal moments of exhilaration.  Composed in 2008, from electronic sketches completed more than 20 years ago, Celebration for Orchestra is a fusion piece that borrows heavily from minimalist traditions, yet is goal-oriented.
